Communicating with a notepad and pen through her window to the boy she has her heart set on "I love you" is the message she is trying to get across to him which is clearly expressed tothe audience, in writing. Throughout the video we watch a typical love triangle between Swift, the boy and his girlfriend. Swift's intentions are emphasised through her use of amplification in the video that directly correlates with the music.
